「Michael, Row the Boat Ashore」是本系列所介紹的第四首出自黑人靈歌（Spiritual）的歌曲，這些歌有個共通性，那就是歌詞都很少，基本上都只有一句，所以學起來非常簡單，日本歌名則為「こげよマイケル」。另外這首歌，有非洲音樂的特徵，也就是運用「呼召與回應（call-and-response）」，之前介紹過的「Che Che Kule」與「Oh alele 」，皆屬這類型的歌曲。
