「家鄉老友」的原曲是「Old Folks at Home」，為美國民謠大師Stephen Collins Foster於1851年所做，也被收錄在101世界名歌集，不過是李叔同所填詞「夢」的中文版本。「家鄉老友」則為蕭而化所譯詞的作品，亦名為「故鄉的親人」，這歌名的翻譯主要是由日文歌名「故郷の人々」而來。而「Old Folks at Home」本身亦有「Swanee River」的異名，所以也有「史瓦尼河」、「スワニー河」這樣的歌名。先前以為李叔同所做夢的原曲是「Massa's in de Cold Ground」，後來要寫這首歌時，才發現我誤認了。除了聽太多歌，一下子錯亂之外，另一方面也是證明，Stephen Collins Foster所做民謠的風格很像，不小心就會張冠李戴。
