此首O Tannenbaum（樅樹），目前最流通的原歌詞，是由德國詩人與作曲家Ernst Gebhard Salomon Anschütz所填，而中文歌詞是由周學譜所譯，原曲則是Melchior Franck所作Silesian（西利西亞）民歌Ach Tannenbaum重新編曲而成。此首被收錄在由呂泉生所編的「101世界名歌集」中，而樅樹就是冷杉，也就是最常用來當成聖誕樹的樹種，所以這首歌也可以稱為聖誕樹。不過，這篇要先介紹的，事由O Tannenbaum這首歌改編，美國童軍在營火中常常唱的一首歌「scout vesper」，中文翻譯歌名為童軍晚禱，也就是這是營火快結束時才會唱的歌曲...。

會想介紹這首「scout vesper」，是因為之前介紹空中大會相關歌曲時「原文：那些年，我們一起口耳相傳的歌曲 ( 四 ) -- 2018世界空中大會篇」，發現有些歌曲還沒介紹過，於是決定在聖誕節前夕，來介紹這首，順道介紹之前還來不及寫的「樅樹（O Tannenbaum）」這首原曲。

關於這首歌的完整歷史敘述，可參照「德國民謠：「聖誕樹」」，可以知道這首歌並不是描寫聖誕節或是聖誕樹，只是形容樅樹終年長青，所代表的堅貞與忠誠。而自19世紀開始，家家戶戶開始有在聖誕節擺聖誕樹的習俗後，這首歌就變成了聖誕節的應景歌曲，而歌名也單純從稱讚樅樹，直接成為聖誕樹。
